Marc Scibilia Talks Tour Necessities and Life on the Road

Marc Scibilia has talent like no other. The New York raised, Tennessee transplant, has been on tour this spring, hitting big cities such as Phoenix, Los Angeles, and many more. Through acoustic tunes that make your heart ache with the sweetest softness, Scibilia is able to capture your attention and keep it. His voice acts as the medium through which deep emotion and feeling are portrayed, which is no easy feat! Read below about how tour is going and highlights of the shows.

Tell me a little about who you are and how you got your start.

I grew up in Buffalo, New York. Half of my family were musicians, so music was always a big part of my life. Since I was 5 or 6, I  was deeply in love with writing songs.

How has tour been? Any stops that have stuck out to you so far?

Tour has been an incredible experience, it's also been a learning experience. I’ve learned so much about what I wanna do with my voice on the next album. Our last show in Salt Lake City was a standout. The crowds in Europe were amazing. Barcelona was one of our favorites. I can’t wait to go back.

Your album “More To This” was released last year, what do those 14 songs mean to you, and how has it been to play them live? Do you find that they reflect a certain time in your life, or maybe the person you’ve found yourselfgrowing into?

Most of my albums are snapshots in time of where I currently am. That album is no different. It’s a snapshot of the last year and a half of my life. Some of the songs came from sounds I was working on, and some of them came from lyrics and melodies.

What song has been the most fun to play live?

My song “Halfway There“ is definitely a standout. It has a lot of energy, but it also tells my story and I think people really resonate with it. It’s all about the journey and the time it takes to make a dream come true.

What does your writing and recording process look like? Do you start with lyrics first, instrumentals, or maybe just an idea that somehow, eventually, turns itself into a song?

Comes from all different places… Sometimes it’s a lyric, sometimes it’s a sound, sometimes it’s a melody. I do find that when I have the concept first, those songs usually write themselves the easiest.

What are your tour necessities on the road? (Snacks, drinks, items, etc)

Staying hydrated is super important… I love to have my Fuji camera with me, and a guitar that is not packed in the trailer so I can write songs.

If you could have a drink with any artist dead or alive, who would it be and why?

Bruce Springsteen most likely… I love songs he writes, what he represents, and how long he’s been able to do it.
