An Intimate Night in Columbia With The Dangerous Summer

August 9, 2025 - Columbia, MO

Mid-Missouri welcomed a two-band bill with open arms on a warm Saturday night. It’s not often that there are fewer than 4 bands, but this night turned into a big warm friendship fest because of it.

The night started with LA-based pop-punk trendsetters, rosecoloredworld, who made me an instant fan. Think, Paramore meets Green Day with an extra punch of energy. While playing quite possibly the best cover of Radiohead’s “Creep” I’ve heard, their set was full of songs that will get stuck in your head, such as my personal favorite “hanging on (by a thread)”. If you see them come through your town, you do not want to miss them.

The Dangerous Summer opened their set with the title track of their latest release, “Gravity,” and the room became one big singalong for the rest of the evening. While recognizing the smaller venue and intimate crowd, not only did the band seem excited to have a chance to relax a little, but used it to really set the mood and pull at every emotion. Ranging from old to new with classics such as “Northern Lights” and newer hits like “Coming Home” and “Fuck Them All”, the set was packed with fan favorites. By the end of the night, the whole room felt like a family, and closing their set with “Where I Want To Be” solidified that feeling.

The show did not end right when the music did - the room was full of story-telling, new friendships being made, and love as both bands caught up with new fans and old at the merch tables.
