Metalcore & Melodies: The Bloom In Heaven Tour Stops In Kansas City
April 28th, 2025 - Kansas City, MO
Swedish Progressive Metalcore band, Allt, opened the show. I got the feeling that this band was new to the majority of the audience, (and myself), but by the time their set was done they had seemingly won the room over. I really appreciated the general vibe of their set, and music. Allt have a darker, more moody & emotional sound very similar to bands like Imminence & Aviana. The majority of their set came off of their 2024 album, From The New World, with a couple of stand outs being “Memories Of Light” & “Emanate.”
156/Silence is a band that is regarded as pretty popular in the music scene they belong to, and finally getting to see them live solidified that the hype around them is 100% deserved. They have a stage presence that commands audience participation, and the 800 people in attendance understood the assignment with giant circle pits and moshing during multiple songs. The 2024 album People Watching was one of my personal favorite albums of last year and finally getting to hear some of it live, “Blood Loss” & “Character Development ( Cold Start)”, specifically was great. They sound amazing live and the energy coming from the crowd really carried over and into the two headliners.
Silent Planet is a band that I will personally try to catch every time they come to Kansas City. They’re so fun to watch and each of the guys on stage bring so much energy for the full set. Garrett is one of the most engaging and energetic front men in the genre and the audience just feeds off of him. When he talks to the crowd it’s always incredibly genuine and from the heart.
This time around Planet played the vast majority of their set off of the 2023 album Superbloom, with a couple notable exceptions being “Mindframe” which came out at the end of 2024, and “Return To One” off of the Bloom In Heaven EP, and namesake of the tour.
Invent Animate is not only a band that makes generally incredible music but they also put on a crazy headlining set. The Bloom in Heaven tour celebrated both Invent Animate and Silent Planet’s 2023 albums Heavener and Superbloom respectively, AND the collaborative EP Bloom In Heaven. The whole band absolutely locks in during their set and the result is a phenomenal live show. Along with playing a great set they also serve looks the entire time they’re on stage, talk about a well dressed and coordinated group. Caleb is from Kansas City and got to bring his parents to the show and shout them out on stage, which was adorable. “Without A Whisper,” & “Immolation Of Night” had the most crowd surfers of the whole night, they made the venue security work for their paycheck for sure.
This was a great show, with great sets from all four bands. If you can catch any of the remaining dates of this tour I highly recommend you grab a ticket and go!
