“Time Changes Everything” Except For How Fantastic The Plot In You Is.

September 11th, 2025 - Kansas City, MO

The last time I saw The Plot In You I saw them in a 350 cap room with no barricade, and that was two years ago. Getting to see them headline one of the biggest venues in Kansas City was nothing less than special for me. I became a huge fan of them after the release of their 2018 album Dispose and I’ve been a fan ever since. Along with being a fantastic live band, Plot brought an absolutely stacked support lineup on tour with them.

I knew a grand total of one song by Australian metalcore band Windwaker, but after watching their set I can 100% tell you that I’m a fan. I thought the little touches of obvious nu metal influence present in their songs made them stand out amongst the rest of the lineup and as someone who recently started listening to a lot of System Of A Down I was here for it. They played tracks off of the 2024 album Hyperviolence  like my personal favorite “Sirens”  and also played their newest track, "Victory Lap”, that came out in August.

It’s not a stretch to say that Invent Animate is one of my favorite bands in the current soundscape of the metalcore genre. This would be the second time I’ve got to see them this year and I could watch them perform live over and over.and not get sick of them. Marcus and Caleb specifically are so fun to watch on stage they have such good energy all the time. I can’t talk about the fact that they’re perhaps one of the most cohesive stylish bands. All the guys kind of match and it just helps create even more of a vibe.

“Shade Astray” and “Immolation Of Night” are two of my favorite songs off of the 2024 definitive edition of Heavener, and they played both of them during their set.  I really like the heavier side of this band, there was a moment where Marcus busted out a growl that I typically only hear in deathcore adjacent projects, that made me stop taking photos and just kind of stare at him. They do softer, melodic parts just as well, a great example being “Heavener.”

Northlane is a band that I genuinely forget about until I hear something from them and I’m like, “wow this is so good who is it?” Which is insane behavior on my part because for those of you who aren’t familiar with them, you should give them a listen immediately. If you like the other bands on this tour you WILL like Northlane, those are simply the facts. The three songs in the photo pit for were coincidentally the ones I knew the best. The moment the intro for “Carbonized”  started I remembered why so many people ride SO hard for this band. My favorite part of seeing them live again was watching their synth board player and his reflective red eye glasses. There were moments in which  he was prowling around on stage in all the fog,  and it was very reminiscent of a Cryptid.

There’s nothing I can say about The Plot In You that people haven’t said over and over again, but I truly believe that they’re a generational band, and Landon Tewers is one of the best vocalists in the scene. I was worried about the turn out in the absolute monster of a venue that is The Midland, but they sounded HUGE. Every single square foot of that place was absolutely vibrating with sheer sound,( but still mixed so well and it didn’t hurt my ears which sometimes isn’t the case.)  I’ve been waiting to hear “Forgotten” live since it came out, and I think it was the highlight of the set for me personally. Landon introduced “Paradigm” as an old song and I suddenly felt so old,( Swan Song  came out in 2021, for reference,) but immediately forgot as soon as it started. The Kansas City show was the night that the newest single- “Silence” came out, and it went over so incredibly well. Everyone in this band makes music look so effortlessly cool the entire time they’re performing. If you like more lyrical dynamic music that takes from metal influences I strongly suggest you check out this band.
