Flower Factory is Rotting Away with Debut Single “ROT”

Flower Factory is a UK based punk rock duo that has taken London’s live music circuit by storm. I had the pleasure of getting to listen to their debut single “ROT”. The concept of the band follows vocalist Taylor Booth’s struggles with being chronically ill in a world catered towards perfection. The Flower Factory universe shows Booth coming to terms with living in The Factory, a representation of society and the reality of being a flawed individual in a facility tasked with the production of perfect Flowers.

With the release of their debut single “ROT”, they are hoping to stake their claim. They have made the rounds, supporting acts like Mouth Culture, Neversaid, and The Flitz. The track itself has punchy cathartic vocals that delve into the hardships of experiencing life within the four walls of the vocalist's bedroom while she was chronically ill. That feeling of “rotting away” is one that vocalist Taylor Booth knows all too well. After spending four agonizing years locked in her bedroom, she writes about how she felt about the track.

ROT is a depiction of how I felt when I was at my lowest during my four years of being chronically ill, and the feeling of falling into nothingness whilst life moves on around you with a mechanical sense of urgency’. (Taylor Booth, Vocals)

This debut will surely help catapult them into a more defined punk scene in London and beyond as it establishes a clear sound that feels authentic and energetic. The single is unique, deeply personal and introduces an interesting concept for future projects to come.
