MIRADOR, the new duo made up of Jake Kiszka from Greta Van Fleet and Chris Turpin from Ida Mae, delivers a striking debut with “Feels Like Gold,” the lead single from their self‑titled album MIRADOR set to release on September 19, 2025.

It’s gritty, bluesy, and feels like something ancient and brand new at the same time. The track kicks off with a haunting solo guitar riff that slowly builds into something massive. It doesn’t rush itself, there’s a steady rhythm that finally breaks into a chorus that really does feel like gold. It is constructed by a blend of rock, folk, blues, and even a sense of mythic storytelling that make the whole thing feel like a fever dream set to music. You can definitely tell they recorded it live in the aspect that it’s raw, imperfect, and it works.

Lyrically, it doesn’t need long verses or slow bridges. The two verses and repeating chorus says enough- it is able to carry the message to the listener and reach that point of understanding. The song has a message, digging into themes like imperialism, identity, and hope. The underlying aspects of conquest and the search for unity in a struggling world seep through the verses and the chorus, driving that message home. It doesn’t preach, but it has something to say, which gives it a little more weight than an average blues-rock track.

Kiszka and Turpin share guitar and vocal duties in tandem, and their chemistry is what really sells it. The grit and blend in their voices sell the vision and draw you in. Kiszka brings this mystical energy, and Turpin has a gravelly voice that cuts right through the mix. Together, they make something that feels a little dangerous, a little spiritual, and totally heavy and head-banging worthy.

The instrumentals are highlighted, guitar solos and drum fills littered throughout the track. Standing at 4 minutes and 44 seconds, every moment is used to highlight this new band’s uncovered sound, and it is an impressive first track.

If “Feels Like Gold” is any sign of what the rest of their album is going to sound like, the musical horizons will broaden and bring grit and soul. It’s not afraid to take its time, be long and filled with moments built with intention, and to be loud. MIRADOR feels like a band with a clear vision, and a bridge between two worlds of music.
