Survival in Motion Taylor Acorn and her take on modern punk rock

“You’re all that I love, am I losing my best friend?” We have all found ourselves asking that very question, making Survival in Motion an album worth your time.

Taylor Acorn has been making a name for herself over the last decade, and is showing no signs of slowing down. She brings a much needed punk energy to the table with her latest deluxe release of Survival in Motion the album. With 15 songs and 42 minutes of storytelling, there is a song here for everyone. Having released the album back in September of last year, it was only a matter of time before we got another big release from Taylor. Slowly but surely over the last seven months, she gave us a tease of what was to come, with new remixes and features with other talented artists, it was clear that something good was on the way. When looking at any rising artist, it’s easy to compare them to other artists in any given genre. What’s unique about Taylor Acorn is that she is able to cement herself in the genre of punk rock and pop rock, doing so in her own way, with her own sound. While she gives off vibes from the likes of Avril Lavigne, Matchbox Twenty, The Story So Far, and many others, she is marking herself as a staple in modern punk rock.

The album starts off with a bang, with the likes of Survival in Motion and Applause quickly giving a heavy introduction to what Taylor has been working on. This album handles transitions well, going from a punk rock classic sound in Greener to a softer, acoustic vibe in People Watching. What’s new about this deluxe edition is a set of new features on preexisting songs, which include Final Nail with Charlotte Sands, Greener with Mitchell Tenpenny, Nervous System with LOLO, and anticipated new single Burning House, which is a standout on this already stellar modern punk album. Greener with Mitchell Tenpenny is a clear standout, as it’s always a welcome addition when genres mix well. Taylor offers addicting vocals that mesh well with Mitchell, giving these remixes a reason to be listened to.

The absolute standout of this album is Burning House, a modern day emo classic filled with mesmerizing vocals, an addicting melody, and tragic story. You can listen to the entire album, and the one line that will be stuck in your head will be pulled from this song’s chorus, that being “say it, say it out loud”.
