From Maisie Peters to Thornhill - September 2025 Staff Picks
My Chemical Romance - The Black Parade (2006)
Senior Writer AG Machado - After seeing My Chemical Romance perform at Shaky Knees, I have found myself coming back to this album. It’s a cohesive theme and the songs are all 10s. The song I’m jamming out the most to is “Teenagers”.
Senior Writer Kaitlyn Serafin - I have fully been launched back into a My Chemical Romance obsession after going to their Tampa tour stop. I can’t stop listening to “This is How I Disappear”. Something about listening to the same songs as I would have in middle school feels especially comforting as I begin another semester at school.
Maisie Peters - The Good Witch (2023)
Senior Writer Dahlia Gregor - “I’m doing better / I made it to September”
The Magnetic Fields - 69 Love Songs (1999)
Senior Writer Megan Lorich -As the school year begins, I've begun to revisit 69 Love Songs. This album has long been one of my choices as a "Desert Island Album," largely because the album has, well, 69 unique love songs on it. Because of its length and variety, 69 Love Songs is an album I can return to and rediscover over and over again, largely as I hit milestones or new phases of my life. While certain tracks on this album (like “The Book of Love”) are more popular than others, the hidden gems in this tome of love songs are truly wonderful to uncover. In fact, part of the reason why I return to 69 Love Songs every few months is to see how I may interpret its many tracks differently. As we grow, so do our relationships with art, and 69 Love Songs essentially remains a litmus test I take quite frequently. With 69 Love Songs to choose from, you're bound to love at least one.
Geese - Getting Killed (2025)
Senior Writer Alyssa Bushman - This album was such a cool last minute addition. A classic in the making for sure!
Crush++ - Power Pleasure (2024)
Senior Photographer Bailey - I saw this band open for my favorite band this month and they’re so good, and this album is so fun if you like alt with some metal elements sprinkled in!
Thornhill - “Mercia” (2025)
Staff Photographer Trev - Coming off the hype of their album release of “BODIES” earlier this year, this song just felt like the actual closer to the album. Jacob’s soaring vocals really make this track feel alive and beautiful.
Christian French - Nostalgia Tapes 3 (2025)
Staff Writer Caitlin Desai - The EP is just such a fun listen, and it never gets old! My favorite song off the EP is “colors run”.
