Fall in Love with Your New Favorites - Staff Picks October 2026

Fontaines DC - Dopamine Chamber (2026)

Social Media Editor Virche Galloway - Fontaines DC is my favorite band and has been for a few years now so this album ‘Dopamine Chamber’ was something I’d been excited and waiting for! I was able to attend an early album listening party with free goodies and surrounded by fellow Fontaines DC fans which I thought was incredible. Since then I feel like this album is the only thing I’m able to happily listen to right now. I also was able to see Fontaines DC live last month and got to hear a few songs off of the new album which was unreleased at the time, so this just feels like a nice continuation of my Fontaines DC era.

Ghostmane - AM:FM (2026)

Staff Writer Tony Lister - Of course I am biased here, I covered the lead single "Zero Day", but keeping with the spooky season, Ghostemane's unique musical talents certainly fit with the time of year. His dark, misanthropic, punchy lyrics continue to rip expiditiously, this time combining styles and influences from his classic dark, heavy rap, seen in "BucketList" to the likes of Korn with "Alive!" and "Miazma" to a Celldweller-esque hi-speed Electro sound in "Cyberia" and the instrumental "Hyperdrive". The variety of bangers on display here is staggering, with the expected Ghostemane grit always peeking through. Overall, it's an awesome album with something for everyone.

Greta Van Fleet- Palace for the People (2026)

Staff Photographer DeAnna Garza - This is currently my favorite album of the month. It was released at the beginning of October and has been playing nonstop; I also was able to photograph their closing night of their Nashville residency and it was a surreal experience!

George Michael - Older (1996)

Staff Photographer Glenna VK - This is my personal pick because it’s one of those albums that just makes you feel completely cool. Like the smooth sound with jazz elements, but it’s also rather heartbreaking at times. It’s a bit gloomy in California at the moment and this album has really been a comforting sound to me as of late. “Fastlove, pt 1” is my personal favorite!

Remi Wolf - Mud (2026)

Staff Writer Jill Nuelle - Remi Wolf brought my favorite release of the month, with her stellar fourth studio album "Mud." A longtime fan, I was lucky to catch her live on last year's "Big Ideas" tour. Her vocals are so powerful, and the energy she brings to the stage is pure and infectious. She is a certified star, and the reception of this record so far has been exciting to watch. In my opinion, it's her best yet, with an honesty and vulnerability that courses through every lyric. It feels like she has firmly decided who she is as an artist, and more importantly, she has something concrete to say. “Burn Me Blue” is my favorite track, but the whole album spun on repeat for me this October. No skips.

5 Seconds of Summer - EVERYONE’S A STAR (2025)

Staff Photographer Arika Suits - Absolute bangers, this album has been pretty much all I’ve listened to this month. Especially “Telephone Busy” (if you know, you know).

Porter Robinson - Smile! :D (2024)

Managing Editor Kaitlyn Serafin - With the release of his collab with Ninajirachi (“WannaCry”), I was inspired to take a deeper look into the prior work of Porter Robinson and boy, am I glad that I did. This album has been on repeat for all of October, especially “Russian Roulette”. I am currently obsessed and even ended up buying the physical record from my local store.

Magdalena Bay - Imaginal Disk (2024)

Staff Writer Mariah Gruber -I am perhaps on the Magdalena Bay train but listening to this album for the first time was such an ethereal experience. The dreamy production mixed with the soft and warm vocals of Mica Tenenbaum are otherworldly especially in “Vampire in the Corner” which was a highlight for me.
