Fit For A King Celebrates Their New Album With A Packed Kansas City Show

November 11th, 2025 - Kansas City, MO

Do you like metalcore? If you do, then you probably know Fit For A King. With support from Make Them Suffer, Spite, and 156/Silence, Fit For A King started the North American leg of The Lonely God Tour on October 30th. Fans of the genre flocked to the Uptown Theater.

156/Silence is a band that if they aren’t on your radar, they need to be immediately. Their 2024 album, People Watching, remains in my daily rotation more than a year after its release. The Pennsylvania-based band not only has insanely catchy riffs, but also impactful lyrics to back them up. Both times I’ve seen them this year they’ve played my favorite songs, “Blood Loss” & “Character Development (Cold Start).”  I always scream the feature in “Blood Loss” way too loud every time.

Spite is easily one of the best heavy bands out there right now. I don’t generally dip my toes that deep into “deathcore” or whatever you want to call them (genre classifications are fake, and I’ll die on that hill), but I LOVE this band. They’re fun to watch on stage; there’s something just a little evil to their performance, and they portray the vibes their music gives off immaculately (all the while being some of the nicest guys in real life). This was the first time I’ve seen them live with their new drummer, Travis, and he's easily one of the most talented drummers and one of my personal favorites alongside Mike from Orthodox. Spite also just released their new album, New World Killer, that came out on Halloween and has easily taken a spot on my top 10 albums of 2025. Alongside tracks from the new album, they kept setlist staples like IED” & “Kill or Be Killed.”

I’ve been trying to see Make Them Suffer for a couple years now, and the stars finally aligned when they were announced as direct support for this tour. I’m not really sure what’s in the water down in Australia, but they consistently churn out insanely good metal bands, and Make Them Suffer is no exception. They demanded and quickly received massive amounts of crowd participation and energy that was present for the whole set. All the members of this band are so high energy and fun to watch; even if you weren’t a fan going into their set, you more than likely would be by the time they were done. I was obviously excited to finally get to hear tracks like “Doomswitch” and “ Erase Me,” but also tracks from the 2024 self-titled album as well.

I’ve personally seen Fit For a King six times as of this show, and calling them one of the most consistently fantastic live bands is just a fact. As individuals and as a unit, they are 100% locked in while they’re on stage, while still being entertaining. Sometimes I feel like you get one or the other with live music, and I’m glad it wasn’t the case with any of the bands on this lineup. Fit For a King released Lonely God earlier this year and played about 80% of it on this tour alongside some setlist staples like “Backbreaker” & “Breaking the Mirror.”  Some day I’ll get to hear “Stacking Bodies” live, but today wasn’t that day. This show also brought one of the biggest walls of death that I had seen at this venue since Knocked Loose played here with Motionless in White. I don’t know how people squeezed in that far, but it was really cool to watch from the balcony upstairs. You can catch this tour until December 7th, and if it’s coming anywhere near you, you should.
