Sun Room Lights Up Philadelphia On Their Jackknife Tour
October 25, 2025 - Philadelphia, PA
SoCal rock band, Sun Room, made a stop at Brooklyn Bowl in Philadelphia on October 25th to play an enchanting headlining show. The band dropped an EP back in July called Ritual of Chaos. The body of work is unique to their discography, bringing the energy of a bustling adventure in New York City, a stark difference from their usual coastal essence.
After entering the packed venue, filled with passionate fans, the opener, West 22nd, an alternative/indie band from Austin, Texas, took the stage. The crowd was immediately filled with vitality, and many people knew all the words to West 22nd’s catchy tunes. With songs titled “Sunburns” and “Sun In The Sky,” they fit right in with Sun Room, bringing a bright and sunshiny vibe to the venue. The band joined Sun Room on their headlining tour while being in the midst of their own headlining tour.

Sun Room finally took the stage about 30 minutes later. Excitement filled every corner of the room. Beginning the show with their track, “Just Yesterday,” from one of their earlier EPs, an evocative, radiant mood was set for the rest of the show. As the band dove further into their set, they played a broad selection of songs from each era of their discography, as well as a cover of Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You.” My personal favorite songs that I heard over the course of the night include “Fun,” “Something That You’re Missing,” “The Night’s Not Over,” and “Cadillac.” For the encore, they played “Red Dress,” a classic from their 2021 Somewhere Tropical EP.
My favorite part of the night was seeing their new EP come to life as they played each track live. Featuring all 6 songs throughout the course of their performance, they made their distinctive shift in style known to the audience. The evolution of their sound is incredibly thrilling, and I’m eager to see how it continues throughout their career. What stood out to me the most was “Oslo, Paris, LA,” which is a unique track on the EP, as it is an acoustic ballad rather than their normal, guitar-driven sound.

Sun Room has built a fantastic community around their music, and the crowd was immensely enthusiastic throughout their set. As they are based in Southern California, it’s exciting to see how their work translates in many different areas of the world. The Jacknife Tour has been the best Sun Room tour that I’ve attended, and I was enthralled by the entirety of their set!
