2025 appears to be the year of banger after banger releases from Australian bands - Friends of Friends have inserted themselves into the bracket with their epic new single ‘Attention’. Sharing the stage with the likes of Kasabian, The Reytons & Aussie friends Slowly Slowly, they have built up a core fan base bringing in over 1.1 millions streams on Spotify.

The band wrote, recorded and built this single entirely on their own fully backing their DIY ethics. The single itself dives into a world full of modern disconnect, media overload, and the desperate craving for validation in a society that feels like it’s burning. ‘Attention’ captures the band at their most raw, with an insane blend of sharp in your face hooks. The electrifying anthem literally catches your attention from the off. Frontman Barnaby Baker describes it as “part attention-seeking anthem, part prophetic meltdown”, a track that channels fury, irony, and hyper-awareness into three relentless minutes.

Baker continues to say “Every day we see something absolutely insane on our phones,” Barnaby explains. “It’s like, ‘Yeah, I know the world is falling apart, but did you see that cute video I sent you on Insta?’ We all know it. Either we can’t do anything about it, or we’re too scared to look too deep. But under all of that, I ironically just want a bit of attention on myself, and I feel both vain and owed at the same time. It’s a bit stupid, really.”

The single is paired with a brand new music lyric video that can be found below.

“It’s not a sad song. It’s furious, disillusioned, ironic, a bit fun-poking and hyper-aware. It’s the sound of someone who’s been told to be grateful, to calm down, to ‘go outside and touch grass’ - but who knows deep down that something real is missing. And maybe it’s already too late. Or maybe it’s not - and screaming about it is the last real thing left” says Baker.

The single is the first release of 2025 and follows on from last years ep ‘Real Life, Right Now’. Friends of Friends are eyeing a big finish to the second half of the year.
