Ten Years of Blurryface and a Drum Heist? Twenty One Pilots Fans Are on High Alert

As the 10-year anniversary of Blurryface approaches, Twenty One Pilots fans are on high alert. From stolen instruments to leaked merch, the band’s dedicated fanbase is watching every move — hoping all signs point to something big.

Originally released on May 17, 2015, Blurryface is the band’s fourth studio album and a defining moment in their career. Known for its genre-blending sound and emotional vulnerability, the album explores themes like mental health, insecurity, doubt, and identity. It spawned chart-topping singles like “Stressed Out” and “Ride,” both of which reached the top five on the Billboard Hot 100. Critically acclaimed and commercially successful, Blurryface became the first album in the digital era where every track earned at least gold certification from the RIAA. It topped the Billboard 200 and stayed on the chart for over four consecutive years, earning its place as one of the most-streamed albums of all time.

But even with a legacy that strong, the band continues to make headlines — this time in unexpected ways.

At the May 15 stop in Manchester on The Clancy World Tour, fans were stunned to learn that one of the drums used during the fan-favorite closer “Trees” was stolen from the venue—after the concert had ended. A video quickly began circulating online, showing someone casually walking out with the drum as the crowd was clearing. Several posts alleged the individual told security phrases like, “Oh, Josh gave it to me,” in an apparent attempt to avoid suspicion.

What followed was nothing short of a digital manhunt. Fans across social media sprang into action, sharing footage and tracking leads. In a matter of hours, the drum was found and returned—just in time for the night’s show, one of the final three dates on the tour.

“The Drum Returns! THANK YOU to everyone that helped, tagged, and supported the mission in bringing home The Drum,” wrote Sax, a member of the band’s crew, in an Instagram post. “Let’s kick off the last two shows of The Clancy World Tour THE RIGHT WAY!”

Meanwhile, across the English Channel, buzz was building for an entirely different reason. Posters began appearing around London’s O2 Arena — reading “Welcome back to London” and “The Ten Year Anniversary of Blurryface”— hinting at something mysterious. Fans quickly noticed the aesthetic callbacks to the Blurryface era: red and black graphics, glitchy typography, and a strong sense of nostalgia.

Then came the leak.

Leaked Blurryface Anniversary Merch Shared by Facebook User Jenica Lawson Reposted by Reddit User @Old_Bay_Railfan

Hot Topic employee Jenica Lawson posted a photo of new Blurryface-themed merch on Facebook, featuring “The Bishop” and a new set of cryptic letters on the sleeve: BFX. While not an actual code, fans were quick to connect the dots, wondering if it might signal an anniversary edition, documentary, or even a surprise release.

Fan theories flooded the comment sections.

“Hmm, they do a Blurryface 10th anniversary show and at the exhibit before the show they announce the new album? That would be crazy…” wrote @anthonyhirschh on Instagram.

“Whatever they’re doing for the 10-year anniversary… I have a feeling it’ll be truly epic,” added @toadwideweb on Reddit.

Whether it’s the return of Blurryface or the dawn of a new chapter, one thing is clear: Twenty One Pilots fans are more engaged — and more investigative — than ever.
